Artificial Turf Installation

Synthetic turf installation

The process of installing artificial turf or synthetic turf is essentially the same as pavers. However, less volume of base material is required. Typically a minimum of 2” of road base and 1” of decomposed granite is more than sufficient for most applications.

The decomposed granite layer on top of the rock is essential to avoid a crunching noise when walking on your synthetic lawn.

The base rock layer also helps with drainage. If you currently have sod or grass and want to keep the same green look without mud or puddles artificial turf is an excellent solution.

Different types of synthetic turf

  • pet turf

  • putting greens

  • playground turF

  • landscape turf

Each of these have slightly different installation processes. For example with pet turf you may want to add additional base rock, especially if you have multiple pets, for better drainage. We also highly recommend the use of a deodorizing infill sand when turf is used for pet applicants.

Additionally, with putting greens there are several accessories available. For example, the holes can come with lighted cup for night applications, plastic cups for economical pricing or metal cups for that satisfying authentic “clank” that you hear when you sink a ball on the actual golf course.
